Tate McRae Successfully Debuts New Single ‘Sports Car’
Tate McRae released her new single “Sports Car” on January 24. The song debuted at number 24 on global Spotify and quickly surpassed 3 million streams.
“Sports Car” proves once again that any project McRae touches becomes an immediate hit. It’s no surprise the single reached quick success because, much like her recent singles, the song is full of energy and has the potential for a viral dance trend. Its fresh, 2000s-style beat and whispered chorus draw listeners in and catch their brains, ensuring they will be back for more streams.

Receiving more than 3.9 million streams on Spotify within its first day of release, “Sports Car” is her third biggest Spotify debut next to “2 hands” and “It’s ok I’m ok.” Accompanying the single is a music video with 3.3 million views on YouTube that features the star posing and dancing alone in a series of rooms. The artist is known for her highly produced music videos, showcasing her dance background and high-fashion outfits.
In addition to the single’s great success on Spotify, it also received the title of “Top New Release” in a poll by Billboard. Running against new singles from artists like Bruno Mars and Travis Scott, her song brought in 26% of the vote, barely beating the competition.
The star, just recently off her international “Think Later Tour,” is not slowing down soon. The “Miss Possessive” arena tour will begin in March and take her across Europe, South America, the U.K., and North America. Artists Benee and Zara Larsson will make special guest appearances on tour. Since its announcement in November 2024, all US and Canada dates have sold out.
