Gracie Abrams Opens up About All Things Love and Romance in Special Valentine’s Day Feature
Pop star Gracie Abrams discussed relationships, therapy, touring, and more in a new Valentine’s Day cover story.
In honor of Valentine’s Day just around the corner, Gracie Abrams sat down with Cosmopolitan for their February Love Issue.
Abrams told Cosmopolitan about her Valentine’s Day plans, which are anything but traditional. She’ll be touring in Germany but has the holiday off. During her break, she plans to join producer Aaron Dessner in his Paris-based studio to write a song. “All of my songs are love letters in one way or another, so that’s my Valentine,” she claimed.
The singer shared her thoughts on the holiday, noting that while she sometimes uses it to focus on her songwriting, she still appreciates what it represents. She then explained her idea of a healthy relationship and what love means to her.

“What I love about a healthy relationship is that your life doesn’t radically change. You just fit into each other in a way that feels positively challenging and deeply supportive—it’s like a place to land,” Abrams shared. She added that, in her current season of life, love feels like having a safe place no matter where she goes. The singer describes her version of love as “home.”
Many of her hit songs revolve around past loves and unsuccessful relationships. The star recounted her experience of falling in love for the first time, confessing, “I was in high school, and I was an idiot.” Like many others, she revealed that her first brush with love felt “obsessive,” but insists it was real love.
The pop star has been an outspoken advocate for therapy. Abrams discussed her current hiatus from therapy, which she has attended regularly since she was 19. Though she admits to avoiding therapy lately, she stands by her belief that it’s an invaluable tool. “I really believe everyone should go to therapy, and I do think therapy has been really helpful for me, especially when it comes to healthy relationships,” she admitted.
It was a busy year in 2024 for the singer-songwriter, as she toured alongside Taylor Swift on “The Eras Tour,” performed on Saturday Night Live, and released her latest album, The Secret of Us. Things aren’t slowing down anytime soon, as she continues with her own tour.
Beyond her personal revelations, Abrams’ professional achievements underscore her rising star power. In 2024, she released her sophomore album, The Secret of Us, which debuted at number four on the Official Albums Chart and remained on the chart for 33 weeks—a testament to its enduring appeal. The album’s introspective lyrics and melodic compositions have been lauded by critics and fans alike, solidifying her place in the contemporary music scene.
Abrams’ collaboration with Taylor Swift on the track “Us” further amplified her recognition, exposing her music to a broader audience. Her ability to translate deep emotions into lyrics has set her apart, making her a standout in the indie-pop and singer-songwriter genres. She has also been nominated for several industry awards, marking her transition from an emerging artist to a chart-topping mainstay.
Her rise to fame has been fueled by a dedicated fan base that resonates with her raw storytelling. Songs like “21,” “I Miss You, I’m Sorry,” and “Where do we go now?” have cemented her as one of the most compelling young artists of her generation. With her distinct voice and deeply personal songwriting, Abrams continues to carve out a unique space in music, proving that her artistry goes beyond fleeting trends.
Gracie Abrams’ new album, The Secret of Us, is available on all streaming platforms.
