Chappell Roan Teases New Song ‘The Giver’ With Campy Billboards
Chappell Roan took to Instagram to share photos of her billboard ads teasing her new, unreleased song, “The Giver.”
This is not the first time Roan teases the song and upcoming sophomore album, having first teased it in October. She posted a series of Polaroid photos on Instagram, each having one word adding up to spell the sentence, “She gets the job done.” She captioned the post, writing, “This is a clue. Just let that sink in.”
A few days later, she captioned another Instagram post, “Album kinda popped off imo but it is time to welcome a hot new bombshell into the villa.” When the artist took the Saturday Night Live stage in November, she debuted a new country song.
Before teasing the single, she mentioned an upcoming country song in her interview with Rolling Stone.
“We have a country song. We have a dancy song. We have one that’s really Eighties, and we have one that’s acoustic, and we have one that’s really organic, live-band, Seventies vibe. It’s super weird,” she stated.
Although “The Giver” is her first country song, the Grammy Award-winning musician named herself after her grandfather’s favorite Western song, a sub-genre of country, “The Strawberry Roan.” The song’s genre is another example of the “Pink Pony Club” singer’s beloved unique brand of authentic “weirdness” continuing to twist the expectations.

Her promo for the unreleased official second song of her sophomore album has displayed her continued love of camp. She posted photos on her Instagram story of three different billboard ad locations: Times Square in New York, Los Angeles, California, and Nashville, Tennessee. The ads parody billboard lawyers with the Midwest Princess dressed as one alongside claims “No win, no fee” and “Los Angeles’ finest divorce lawyer.” Each billboard ad advertises the viewer to call (620)-HOT-TOGO, also known as (620)-468-8646.
Fans have called the number and were met with her stating, “To book an appointment with a dentist, please press 1. If you’re trying to reach our attorney, press 2. If you’re having plumbing issues, press 3. For any other construction services, press 4. If you have a pressing question but don’t have the answer, you can talk to our private investigator by pressing 5. Thank you, have a good day.”
Pressing any of these numbers will play a short sound related to the job correlated with the number pressed and a snippet from “The Giver.” Roan has announced the lawyer variant vinyl pre-sale of the single with the orders set to ship on August 18. The vinyl also includes a demo of the unreleased song “Fix It In The Morning,” similar to the vinyl of Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!” which included the demo of the still unreleased song “Read & Make Out.”
Although the lawyer variant vinyl of “The Giver” has since sold out on Roan’s official website, it can still be pre-ordered here.
