Lady Gaga to Perform Free Concert in Brazil
Lady Gaga is returning to Brazil in May to perform a free concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro.
The show, which is being held on May 3, will be broadcast live on both Multishow and TV Globo. It starts at 9pm BRT. Attendance is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The “Paparazzi” singer expressed her excitement on social media to return to Brazil and be with her fans.
“It’s a great honor to be asked to sing for Rio — for my whole career the fans in Brazil have been part of the lifeblood of the little monsters,” Gaga stated.
She last performed in Brazil in 2012 during her tour: Born This Way Ball. She was scheduled to perform there once again in 2017 for Rock in Rio, but had to cancel for medical reasons. While she was disappointed she had to cancel, she appreciated the fans’ understanding.
“I’ve been dying to come perform for you for years and was heartbroken when I had to cancel years ago because I was hospitalized,” Gaga stated. “Your understanding that I needed time to heal meant the world to me. I am now coming back and I feel better than ever and am working so hard to make sure this show is one you will never forget.”

The performance comes as part of the founding of Todo Mundo no Rio, a program created by Bonus Track and presented by Corona. The goal of the initiative is to showcase how entertainment has impacted the city of Rio de Janeiro. The “Born This Way” singer’s show is being produced by Bonus Track in collaboration with Live Nation.
Copacabana Beach has hosted many major events over the years. Most recently, Madonna finished out her Celebration Tour on the beach last year, drawing in 1.6 million attendees. In 2006, The Rolling Stones did a show on the beach which drew in 1.5 million attendees.

Before this concert, Gaga is headlining Coachella on April 11 and April 18. She’s also releasing her newest album, MAYHEM, on March 7. The album features “Disease,” “Die With A Smile,” and her latest single, “Abracadabra.”
