Zendaya Adds New Project to Busy Schedule: Shrek 5
Zendaya is joining the already star-studded cast of Shrek 5 as the ogre’s daughter, Felicia.
Shrek’s universe is expanding with the announcement of Shrek 5, and Zendaya is set to star as Shrek and Fiona’s daughter.
The Spider-Man: Far From Home star is featuring alongside Mike Meyers (Shrek), Cameron Diaz (Fiona), and Donkey (Eddie Murphy) who are all reprising their roles. Her casting was revealed as a teaser was dropped by Universal and Dreamworks.
In 2017, Zendaya posted on Twitter, now X, “I watch Shrek too often in my adulthood.” The official social media accounts for the franchise reposted the tweet, writing “This aged well.”

She is filming Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey; a fourth Spider-Man film alongside her fiancé, Tom Holland; the long-awaited third season of Euphoria; and Dune: Messiah. Her most recent projects include Challengers, a sports romance directed by Luca Guadagnino, and Dune: Part Two with Timothée Chalamet.

The Shrek franchise began with its first installment in 2001, followed by Shrek 2 in 2004, Shrek the Third in 2007, and Shrek Forever After in 2010.

The franchise puts a twist on the concept of “Happily Ever After.” It follows an ogre, Shrek, who spends his time alone until he meets a group of fairytale friends. When they’re banished from their kingdom by Lord Farquaad, Shrek strikes a deal to rescue Princess Fiona and bring her to Farquaad as his bride. However, the there’s a secret that the princess has kept that could get in the way of Shrek’s plan to return home.
The rest of the films continue to follow Shrek, Princess Fiona, and their friends through different obstacles.
Shrek 5 releases on December 23, 2026. The official teaser can be viewed below.
In the meantime, the first three Shrek films can be streamed on Paramount and the fourth on MAX.
