The Breakfast Club Will Reunite After 40 Years
Is it April yet? For the first time in forty years, the cast of the beloved 80s cult classic The Breakfast Club will reunite once again. A brain, a beauty, a jock, a rebel, and a recluse will make an appearance at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo next month.
Emilio Estèvez, best known as Andrew Clark, the jock, announced the news on Instagram last week writing, “A reunion 40 years in the making. See you soon, Chicago.” Along with that post, the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo also made their own announcement welcoming Estèvez, and promising fans this will be an event to watch.
The organization continued, clarifying that during the three-day expo, fans will be able to meet the cast, obtain autographs and take photos with them. Estèvez will be there all three days along with Anthony Michael Hall and Judd Nelson. Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy will be present on Saturday, April 12, and Sunday, April 13.
While Ringwald, Sheedy, Hall and Nelson have all made appearances at various Comic Cons in the past, C2E2 announced that this will be “The first and only time ever, the full main cast of The Breakfast Club is reuniting.”
Last month, the movie celebrated its 40 year anniversary. Originally released a day after Valentine’s Day in 1985, the film follows five high school students of different backgrounds stuck in Saturday detention. The critically acclaimed John Hughes film helped launch the careers of the “Brat Pack.” Its commercial success has transcended generations, resulting in many fan creations on social media. A sequel was considered but never came to fruition prior to his untimely death in 2009.
Chicago, Hughes’ birthplace, has a special history in his films. The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and Weird Science, all of which are now considered to be cult classic films embodying the 1980s, were all shot in the city. As well as a reunion, this could also be considered a homecoming for the cast.
VIP and Three Day admission tickets to C2E2 are currently sold out. However, you can book remaining General single day admission tickets here.
