XOXO: Penn Badgley Goes Full Gossip Girl for Kristen Bell

Penn Badgley brings back his Gossip Girl voice for a single scene in Kristen Bell’s Nobody Wants This, giving fans a nostalgic surprise.

Netflix has just created a fan-favorite You, Gossip Girl, and Nobody Wants This crossover. The actor, who stars as Joe Goldberg in You decided to lend his voice to narrate a scene from another hit Netflix series, Nobody Wants This, starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody.

Interestingly, Netflix isn’t the only thing the two projects have in common. Badgley previously starred in Gossip Girl as Dan Humphrey, and Adam Brody, is married to Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester (Blair Waldorf), adding to the small-world connection.

“Hello, Upper East Siders. You know you love me,” the 38-year-old states using his iconic Joe voice in the video posted to Instagram on March 19. This iconic quote, which opens the series, perfectly enhances the crossover by linking the two characters.

The Netflix star then goes on to describe that in the finale of Gossip Girl, it was revealed that the very lovely Nobody Wants This actress lent her voice to narrate Lonely Boy, Dan Humphrey. He then goes on to explain, “I thought I would repay the favor. I’m going to put a little narrative spin on Kristen’s show. Nobody Wants This.”

The scene he narrates is the beloved ice cream date between main characters Noah and Joanne. This scene is a fun choice for Joe Goldberg to narrate, as it leads up to the characters’ first kiss in episode two. Joe’s witty and blunt humor delivers some unforgettable moments. He states, “You can’t be serious eating ice cream together,” and “Makes me certain that what I want isn’t just friends. What I want is Adam Brody.”

Ultimately, the return to his Gossip Girl roots, even for a single scene, proves the lasting power of both his voice and the series itself.
