HBO Max will release Sweet Life: Los Angeles, a new unscripted series by producer Issa Rae, this summer. The new series will provide a unique perspective of what life in Los Angeles is like for an ambitious friend group of motivated Black 20-somethings. Perhaps Sweet Life: Los Angeles is just the distraction fans of Rae’s show Insecure needed as the show nears its final season.

Issa Rae’s production company, HOORAE media, will create a series that “gives an honest and unique look into what it means to be young, Black, and in constant pursuit of one’s dreams in the heart of South Los Angeles,” according to an HBO Max press release. It will show their paths to making it in the media industry in their mid-20s.

So far, HBO Max has yet to reveal the cast line-up for Sweet Life: Los Angeles. However, each of them will be L.A. natives.

“We’re so proud to present a grounded and fun slice of young Black LA life. We hope the HBO Max audience will relate to and fall in love with this group of friends as much as we have,” Rae stated in a press release.

Rae is executive producer of Insecure (HBO Max), which is heartbreakingly nearing its fifth and final season. She was also previously executive producer of the comedy series A Black Lady Sketch Show (HBO Max).

There is no exact release date for Sweet Life: Los Angeles, but the upcoming reality series will premiere this summer. Follow HBO Max’s Instagram to stay up-to-date on the upcoming series.
