After releasing her live performance of the love ballad “POV” back in late June, Grande revealed to fans another live performance was on its way. Asking her fanbase of Arianators, “What they thought was next?” fans flooded her Instagram and Twitter with their guesses. On July 6th, the singer posted a picture of the pair and officially announced the collab was right around the corner. Releasing the live performance right at noon EST on July 7, Grande and Dolla Sign definitely made this release worth the wait. This was also the first time the pair performed the song.

Harmonizing quite beautifully together, one would never guess this wasn’t the studio version of “Safety Net.” Grande sporting the same stunning black leather outfit and bright purple gloves from her “POV” performance and Dolla Sign looking dapper in a plaid jacket ensemble, the pair looked fantastic together. With different camera angles and lighting this time, this live performance was head-turning in more ways than one. Considering both singer’s vocal abilities, the pair did not disappoint. Adding in a few extra riffs and harmonizing during the bridge, this was definitely one of those performances we never knew we needed.

Never collaborating until Grande’s 2020 album Positions, the two singers sound really nice together. With Grande singing in her lower register and Dolla Sign’s raspy voice and slight autotune, the two vocalists pair effortlessly. Ty Dolla Sign recently released his newest collaboration with the late singer Mac Miller titled “I Believed It,” and this performance is Grande’s latest release. Ariana also was featured on Doja Cat’s newest album Planet Her, on the track “I Don’t Do Drugs.” Grande and Dolla Sign seem to perform well together; hopefully, they will perform again or collab on another hit song.

Watch the live performance of “Safety Net” above and try your hardest not to fall into their net of harmonies.
