Miley Cyrus delivered a rocking cover of the Cocteau Twins’ song “Heaven or Las Vegas,” the title track off the Scottish dream-pop band’s sixth studio album of the same name. Cyrus performed the song at the Resorts World Casino in Las Vegas on July 4.

The singer keeps proving to audiences that she is reviving rock ‘n’ roll by covering hit songs such as Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You” and Hole’s “Doll Parts” on The Howard Stern Show. She had also shown off her vocal range when covering Blondie’s signature hit, “Heart of Glass,” which, due to its popularity, also appears on her latest album, Plastic Hearts. Cyrus also challenged herself when taking on rock ‘n’ roll staples “Black Dog” by Led Zeppelin and “Comfortably Numb” by Pink Floyd.

During Cyrus’ performance in Las Vegas on July 4, she told the audience, “I am gonna sing a song that no one knows—but you will know it after tonight.” The performer was referring to the Cocteau Twins, a dream-pop band from the 80s and 90s. She decided to cover the title track instead of bigger hits such as the opener “Cherry- Coloured Funk” or “Fotzepolitic.”

The Cocteau Twins have influenced various mainstream artists today, one of the most prominent artists being The Weeknd. He sampled Cocteau Twins “Cherry-Coloured Funk,” distorting the sound. It appears off “The Knowing,” a track off House of Balloons, The Weeknd’s debut mixtape released in 2011.

Plastic Hearts is the singer’s most rock album to date. Cyrus has continued her rock revival by collaborating with her musical heroes Billy Idol, Joan Jett, and Stevie Nicks. Also featured on the album is an epic cover of The Cranberries hit song, “Zombie,” which she initially performed at Whisky a Go-Go.

Miley Cyrus has continued to impress audiences with her insane vocal abilities. Be sure to stream her latest album, Plastic Hearts, on streaming platforms such as Spotify
