Nicki Minaj is remembering and celebrating her iconic music video “Anaconda,” released 7 years ago. This week, she gave fans some behind-the-scenes footage of the creation of the music video that became a worldwide hit.

On Instagram, the Barbie dropped a sneak peek of videos from the “Anaconda” rehearsals along with other behind-the-scenes footage of the music video’s production. “7 years later. Who remembers witnessing the internet break when I dropped this picture?” she asked.

“First solo female rap video to reach a billion views + first one to break the VEVO record for most views in a day chi… yes ma’am always inspiring the girlies 🥰#BarbTalk 🦄 #Anaconda #7YearAnniversary S/O Sir MixALot 💕 love you guys for holding me down this long 🎀 Pauz,” the caption continued.

“Anaconda” dropped back in 2014 and stunned the world with its iconic lyrics and choreography. The single was part of the female rapper’s 2014’s PinkPrint album and spent 29 weeks on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart. The song peaked at number 1 on the Billboard chart on Sept. 5, 2014, followed by other hit singles, “Only,” featuring Drake, Lil Wayne, and Chris Brown, and “Bang Bang” with Jessie J and Ariana Grande.

The song sampled the classic 1992 hit “Baby Got Back” that invited women to embrace their curves and big bottoms. Nicki’s version became a cultural resetting moment, and the Barbz tweeted their love and support for the artist.

The song that became a global hit on the radio made it to the VMA stage back in 2014, where Nicki slayed in her sparkly green bra and shorts ensemble during the opening performance.

The female rapper is never out of the rap game for long. Aside from music, she has enjoyed being a newlywed with her husband, Kenneth Petty, and enjoying motherhood after giving birth to her son in September. The rapper then came back to give fans some new music to listen to as she re-released her 2009 mixtape “Beam Me Up, Scotty, with new tracks “Fractions” and “Seeing Green” featuring Drake and Lil Wayne.

Nicki Minaj is truly the queen of rap, and her music inspires women of all generations to embrace all parts of themselves and never let anyone tear them down. View the iconic music video below.
