Get ready for the soundtrack of a lifetime with Netflix’s new musical drama film tick, tick… BOOM!. Netflix unveiled the latest trailer for their highly anticipated film on October 4. tick, tick… BOOM! is adapted from the autobiographical musical created by Jonathan Larson before starting the hit Broadway show Rent. In addition, Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda will make his directional debut with tick, tick… BOOM!.

tick, tick BOOM! follows Jon (Andrew Garfield), who lives in New York City in 1990 waiting tables. Jon is a young theater composer writing a musical to become the next big hit in America. But, just days before his make-or-break showcasing of the musical, Jon feels the pressure from everywhere.

He feels the demand from his artistic girlfriend, Susan (Alexandra Shipp), who dreams of living beyond New York City, his friend Michael (Robin de Jesús), who left behind his dream to live a financially secure life. Also, the stress of living in a community dealing with the devastating effects of the AIDS epidemic. Jon must ask the question, “What are we meant to do with the time we have?”

In the trailer, fans get a glimpse of Jon creating the musical and questioning whether he made the right decision to become an artist. The trailer also gives an audience a look into the cast, including Andrew Garfield, Alexandra Shipp, Robin de Jesús, Joshua Henry, Vanessa Hudgens, and Bradley Whitford.
