Several award-winning actors will be joining Liam Neeson in Neil Jordan’s new film, Marlowe.

Marlowe is based on The Black-Eyed Blonde by John Banville and has been adapted for the screen by writer William Monahan. The film’s director is Neil Jordan (Interview With the Vampire).

Liam Neeson had previously confirmed for the role of Philip Marlowe, and Friday brought news of a new group of legendary talents joining the cast. Jessica Lange, Danny Huston, Alan Cumming, Ian Hart, Colm Meaney, Dianne Kruger, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje will be featured in the film, where filming is currently taking place in Spain and Ireland.

The story follows a private detective (Neeson) who finds himself entangled in Hollywood drama via an acclaimed and ever-so-charming Hollywood actress, Dorothy Cavendish (Lange), and her daughter, Clare Cavendish (Kruger). Audiences have already noted that Oscar winner Jessica Lange and Dianne Kruger are perfectly cast to play the mother-daughter duo.

Danny Huston will fill the eccentric role of Floyd Hanson, manager of The Cahuilla Club. The gangster role of Lou Hendricks will be played by Alan Cumming, with Akinnuoye assuming the persona of his right-hand man, Cedric. Ian Hart will be Detective Joe Green, while Colm Meaney takes on the part of investigator Bernie Ohls.

Jessica Lange fans are more than excited to see the stunningly iconic actress return to the big screen. There is particularly strong anticipation surrounding Lange and Danny Huston working together on the new project. Audiences were bewitched by their onscreen chemistry in American Horror Story: Coven as Fiona Goode and the Axeman, and intoxicated by their romance in Freakshow, so the promise of seeing both talents in the same production once again is enticing.

There is no confirmed release date for Marlowe, but given that production has already begun in Europe, it’s only a matter of time before viewers can see this star-studded ensemble breathe life into this thrilling story.
