Our favorite multi-talented queen, Nicki Minaj, has gifted us an end-of-summer banger with her new hit “Super Freaky Girl.” On August 12, Minaj uploaded an official lyric video on Youtube to accompany the release. This playful bop is a modern spin on the 1981 “Super Freak” by musician Rick James, whose voice is also sampled on the record. Other notable samples of the song include “U Can’t Touch This ” by MC Hammer (1990) and “Freaky Gurl” by Gucci Mane (2007).

It only gets better, this is her first solo Billboard Hot 100 Hit, and she shows no signs of stopping. According to Billboard, her chart history bears 3 No.1 Hits and 21 Top 10 hits. Besides her witty bars and wordplay, her dedication to her craft has awarded the Queens rapper the same title as one of her inspirations, Ms. Lauryn Hill.

In 1998, Hill’s single “Doo Wop(That Thing)” debuted at #1 and held space on the Billboard charts for 21 weeks. Without a doubt, Minaj is in line to leave a lasting legacy in the rap game as her predecessors have, and to no surprise, #girlpower wins again.

Naturally, this was a trending topic across social media platforms as fans flocked to share their excitement and congratulations. Nicki would later go on to post this heartfelt message to her 201 million Instagram followers.

Furthermore, the superstar was congratulated outside of social media by her husband, Kenneth “Zoo” Petty, sharing the pink balloons, confetti, and flowers that awaited her. Of course, Papa Bear had a front-row seat and enjoyed every moment.

3 weeks later from releasing her lyric video, the highly anticipated official music video finally arrived. Here at Glitter, we know that with Nicki one thing you can always expect is lots of pinks. Both videos radiate peak feminine energy, with pink woven into almost every aspect. Watch the official lyrics and music videos down below to get the super freaky experience.
