Adele won Best Pop Solo Performance for her hit single “Easy on Me” at the Grammy Awards while meeting the one and only, Dwayne Johnson.

Once Trevor Noah introduced Adele to Dwayne Johnson for the very first time, she met him at the podium when he announced her as the winner of one of the Grammy’s prestigious awards.

As she made her acceptance speech, she joked that her boyfriend Rich Paul told her not to cry if she won and here she was crying. Then, Adele emotionally dedicated the award to her son Angelo, while revealing she wrote the first verse of “Easy on me” in the shower when she was choosing to change her son’s life.

In 2021, “Easy on Me” was Adele’s first track release in six years since her last album 25. Her music comeback set the world on fire, breaking the world record for the most streamed song in 24 hours with 24 million streams on Spotify beating BTS’ “Butter.”

“Easy on Me” is a track that recalls Adele’s bristling childhood, her marriage, and lessons she had learned throughout her life about family, love, and abandonment.

The balladic track is one of 15 songs on her new album 30, which was written through the “most turbulent period” of her life. When writing the album, she was going through a divorce with her then-partner, which impacted not only her own life but the life of their son.

When discussing how her divorce impacted her home life, she states that she wishes to use this record to explain this blistering experience to Angelo. She claims she wants her son to know “when he’s in his twenties and thirties, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness.”

Although she is known for making melancholic songs about heartbreak and grief, 30 transitions from Adele’s past wistful music with themes of hope and acceptance. In an exclusive interview with British Vogue, she describes her new album as showcasing three phases of her self-reflection. She first states the album is self-destruction, “then self-reflection and then sort of self-redemption. But I feel ready. I really want people to hear my side of the story this time.”

Each album she has recorded is titled to reflect the age she wrote them. Her debut album 19 featured hit singles “Chasing Pavements,” “Cold Shoulder,” and “Hometown Glory.” 21 explored themes of heartbreak, introspection, and grief after the separation of a partner. She would channel her emotions in the album to some of her most well-known songs such as “Someone Like You,” “Rumour Has It,” and “Rolling in the Deep.”

In 2015 she would release her next album 25, which delivered themes of her yearning for her old self, nostalgia, motherhood, and regret. That year, “Hello” was a track fans had on replay making the single an international number-one song.

As a result of her talented vocals and emotional songwriting, she was able to create phenomenal music that would evolve her into the most well-known pop singer in the industry.

After winning a total of 15 Grammy Awards, it’s no surprise that the “Chasing Pavements” singer received yet another accolade this time for her track “Easy on Me.” She continues to be emotionally raw with her music, wearing her heart on her sleeve as she inspires, and provokes intimate emotions in her fans.
