Violent concert encounters with female artists spark concern among fans after both Bebe Rexha and Ava Max were attacked onstage this week.

Bebe Rexha, known for her hit songs “Meant to Be” and “Me, Myself & I,” was attacked at her Best F’n Night of My Life Tour in Manhattan on June 18. A man in the crowd threw a phone which hit her in the face. Rexha fell to her knees, as witnessed in a fan video. The resulting injury required multiple stitches, confirmed by a family member as reported by Rolling Stone.

The man who threw the phone was Nicolas Malvagna. He has since been arrested and charged with assault. According to a court complaint, Malvagna allegedly stated he threw the phone because “it would be funny.”

This disturbing account has provoked many fans to vent their frustrations and fears for the safety of female artists on Twitter.

Rexha has since reached out via Tik Tok reassuring fans of her safe recovery.

This comes just two days before Ava Max was also attacked onstage. Max, known for her songs “Sweet but Psycho” and “Kings & Queens,” performed in Los Angeles when a fan jumped on stage. The man managed to slap her face before being dragged away by security. This incident was also captured in a fan video.

Max described the event via Twitter: “He slapped me so hard that he scratched the inside of my eye.”

The proximity of both events has made many fans and artists wary. The safety of artists, especially female artists, is paramount. Women deserve to feel safe wherever they are, including on stage.

Rexha and Max are both continuing their tours despite these events. More information about Rexha’s tour can be found on her website, and information on Max’s tour can be found on her website.
