Hearts Are Racing From Troye Sivan’s ‘Rush’ Music Video
28-year-old pop singer, Troye Sivan, released the music video for his brand-new single, “Rush” on July 13 and reached over 4.7 million views in eight days.
The Australian singer is known for his previous albums Bloom and Blue Neighbourhood, which have a different pace than his recent single. This song is the first sneak peek from his upcoming album, Something To Give Each Other. The album comes out on October 13.
The hit single has flourished globally. Additionally, fans on TikTok have recreated the prime choreography in the trending music video.
Sivan used his TikTok platform to promote the song before its release, raising anticipation and excitement in his fan base and gaining additional supporters.
The music video drew much attention with its intense, energetic choreography and flamboyant dancers. Sivan and his crew sing, dance, smoke, drink, and party throughout the video. The video also expresses sexuality and sexual freedom.
Sivan posted on his Instagram story, “It’s hard to get good music video budgets these days because people say videos don’t matter but you guys secured the bag for the next one bc you liked the Rush video so much, thank you.”
Although the music video was a success, it received criticism over the dancers’ lack of body diversity.
Sivan responded to the backlash in an interview with Billboard. “I definitely hear the critique,” he stated. “To be honest, it just wasn’t a thought we had — we obviously aren’t saying, ‘We want to have one specific type of person in the video.’ We just made the video, and there wasn’t a ton of thought put behind that.”

Sivan has been in the public eye before he began to promote his latest song. He also starred in the new HBO television series, The Idol.
