Miley Cyrus has finally earned her flowers. The “River” singer took home two Grammys last night for her iconic song, “Flowers.”

Cyrus’ first Grammy win was for Best Pop Solo Performance. “Flowers” beat out “Paint the Town Red” (Doja Cat), “What Was I Made For?” (Billie Eilish,) “Anti-Hero” (Taylor Swift), and “Vampire” (Olivia Rodrigo). The coveted trophy was presented to her by none other than Mariah Carey. Cyrus, visibly shocked, replied, “This MC is gonna stand by this MC. This is just too iconic.”

The singer recounts a story about a boy and a butterfly. Although she planned on not sharing the story, she had to because Mariah was present. She states, “So there was a little boy that all he wanted for his birthday was a butterfly. And so his parents gave him a butterfly net and he was so excited. He just went outside, out in the sun, and started swinging and swinging. But with no luck. He sat down on the ground he finally let go and he surrendered and he was okay that he wasn’t gonna capture this beautiful butterfly. And right when he did is when the butterfly came and landed right on the tip of his nose.” She ends on a sentimental note, “This song, ‘Flowers’ is my butterfly. Thank you.”

“Flowers” would continue to triumph throughout the night. Cyrus’ track would also take home Record of the Year. The song was up against “Worship” (Jon Batiste), “Not Strong Enough” (boygenius), “What Was I Made For?” (Billie Eilish), “Anti-Hero” (Taylor Swift), “vampire” (Olivia Rodrigo), “On My Mama” (Victoria Monét), and “K*ll Bill” (SZA).

Fellow collaborator Mark Ronson and Meryl Streep presented Cyrus with her second Grammy. She stated, “This award is amazing and adds that her life was beautiful yesterday. Everyone in this world is spectacular, so please don’t think this is important!”

Congratulations to Miley Cyrus on her overdue Grammy wins. Fans can stream the record of the year now on all major music platforms.
