On Sunday, April 14, Reneé Rapp surprised fans with Kesha in a performance of “Tik Tok” at Coachella Weekend One.

The Coachella lineup this year is one fans have been looking forward to since its announcement. From artists like Lana Del Rey, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Tyler The Creator, No Doubt, and Reneé Rapp, the first weekend was filled with iconic performances that left fans stunned.

Before the performance Sunday afternoon, Rapp was introduced to the stage by the cast of the drama series The L Word, which Rapp has talked about being a fan of. She opened her set by singing “Talk Too Much” from her 2023 album Snow Angel. Fans went wild, and her incredible setlist included other popular favorites like “Colorado,” “Bruises,” “Pretty Girls,” and many more, rounding it out to about 14 total songs.

After a few songs into the set, Kesha joined Reneé Rapp on stage to perform her 2010 hit song “Tik Tok.” The neverending crowd danced and sang along with the artists.

The singers previously shared the stage in Brooklyn last year, where they performed Kesha’s “Your Love is My Drug.” Coachella was their second time performing together. Some fans predicted the surprise and hoped to see the two together again due to tweets earlier that day. The women also posted matching TikTok videos singing “Tik Tok.” Kesha captioned her video, “On my way #Coachella.”

Fans are praising Rapp’s performance, from her stunning vocals and talent to the representation of the LGBTQ+ community. Everything about it was iconic in many ways.

In addition to the lineup, there were several other surprise performances from some of today’s most loved artists. No Doubt brought out Olivia Rodrigo, where we saw an iconic performance of her and Gwen Stefani singing “Bath Water.” Lana Del Rey invited Billie Eilish to sing “Ocean Eyes” and “Video Games.” Rey also surprised fans with Jon Batiste and Jack Antonoff. Tems brought Justin Bieber, and J. Balvin shared the stage with Will Smith to perform “Men in Black.”

Towa Bird, Rapp’s recent girlfriend, also appeared on stage to duet the song “Tummy Hurts.” The artists hard-launched their relationship last month at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty, posing on the red carpet and attending the party together. The two took the stage for the first time since they performed it on Late Night with Seth Meyers last year.

Rapp first gained recognition back in 2019 and 2020 when she starred as Regina George in Mean Girls on Broadway, later assuming the same role in the 2024 film. She also starred in the Max comedy series, The Sex Lives of College Girls in 2021, portraying Leighton Murray. Once her acting and music career took off, she quickly reached stardom and became one of the most influential artists among teens and young adults.

Coachella 2024 is one to be remembered, with fans already declaring it will be in the history books. We still have Weekend Two, so the festival could have even more surprises waiting for fans.
