“Cambia el Paso” (Change the Step) was released Monday, July 5, and has captivated audiences worldwide with its empowering lyrics. “Her life is better now without him/ She know that her hips don’t fail her/ She doesn’t need anyone to be well/ She doesn’t fail, she doesn’t fail,” Lopez sings in Spanish.
The 51-year-old singer has been teasing fans about the release of her new single all week. The track’s album cover was posted on her Instagram page telling fans to pre-save and the song’s release date. The announcement was left with lots of positive reactions from fans.
According to an interview Lopez did with SiriusXM’s Pitbull’s Globalization and released to People Magazine, “The song is about change and not being afraid to take the step. Like, just take the step, advance, do what you need to do,” she said.
“If something’s not feeling right, whatever it is in your life, like, just make that move,” she continued. Lopez was seen with actor Ben Affleck after splitting from her engagement to Alex Rodriguez earlier this year. The song references her new beginning and change of relationships.
