Colleen O’Shaughnessey is officially lending her voice for the new Sonic the Hedgehog 2 sequel. The actress will be voicing Miles “Tails” Prower, Sonic’s two-tailed fox friend. O’Shaughnessey announced on Twitter her role as Tails.

“Taking my old pal Tails for another adventure. Thrilled to announce I’m the voice of Miles “Tails” Prower in #SonicMovie2! Can’t wait for y’all to see him on the big screen.”

This isn’t the first time O’Shaughnessey has voiced Tails or any other character in the Sonic universe. The voice actress nabbed her first role as a Sonic character in 2010. She voiced Charmy the Bee in the video game Sonic Colors. From there, she would branch out, eventually landing the part as Tails in the 2014 Sonic Boom TV series and video game. She would then voice Tails in Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games series. O’Shaughnessey even voiced Tails in the after-credit scene in Sonic the Hedgehog when Tails lands in the human world, searching for Sonic.

Furthermore, O’Shaughnessey has quite the résumé, appearing in several popular shows. Her very first role was in 1999 in Digimon Adventure as Sora Takenouch. She took on more roles, such as Ino Yamanaka in the popular anime Naruto and as Jazz Fenton in Nickelodeon’s Danny Phantom.

In addition to O’Shaughnessey, Idris Alba was confirmed to be voicing Knuckles the Echidna. Jim Carey and Ben Schwartz will be reprising their roles as Dr. Robotnik and Sonic the Hedgehog. While the plot remains hidden, both the release date and movie poster have been revealed. The film is set to hit theaters on April 8, 2022. The trailer is expected to drop soon. The first Sonic the Hedgehog movie is available on Paramount+ as fans wait for more details.
