Hang on tight because Sonic is taking everyone on a crazy ride in a new trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The movie’s stars Ben Schwartz and Jim Carey revealed the trailer at The Game Awards on Thursday.

According to Nintendo Life, Sonic is back and is embracing his new life in the human realm. The blue hedgehog is determined to become a hero. This is shown after Dr. Robtnik returns from another dimension with a new sidekick, Knuckles the Echidna, in search of a Chaos Emerald, which holds ultimate power that can destroy worlds. Sonic sets out on a journey with Tails in search of the emerald before it’s too late.

Ben Schwartz returns to voice the speedy hero Sonic and Jim Carey as the evil villain, Dr. Robitnik. In addition, James Marsden is reprising his role as Sonic’s human friend, Tom Wachowski. Idris Elba lends his voice as Knuckles and Colleen O’Shaughnessy as Tails. Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington wrote the screenplay. Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, and Toru Nakahara produced the movie. Hajime Satomi, Haruki Satomi, and Tim Miller are the executive producers.

The Sonic the Hedgehog films are based on Sega’s video game, Sonic. Like in the movies, Sonic is the hero, and we follow him on his adventures. The video game has sold over 80 million copies. Not only has Sonic had his own video games and now a movie, but he had his own TV series, for example, Sonic X and Sonic Boom. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 hits theaters on April 8, 2022.
