Japanese Breakfast’s Michelle Zauner is back with more music. The “Kokomo, IN” singer shared a beautiful cover of Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love.”

Japanese Breakfast teamed up with Spotify Singles once again to share their take on another classic: “Skinny Love.” Spotify Singles is currently showcasing the talent of this year’s Best New Artist nominees at the Grammys. The band is up for two awards: Best New Artist and Best Alternative Album.

Zauner has shared powerful vocals on countless covers in her career. In August, Zauner beautifully reimagined “Romulus” by Sufjan Stevens. The “Be Sweet” singer recorded their version at the historic Electric Lady Studios in New York City, complete with a delicate string arrangement.

The “Boyish” singer recently appeared on the record Ocean ChildSongs of Yoko Ono. She shared a beautiful rendition of “Nobody Sees Me Like You Do,” the 1981 song by legendary artist and multi-instrumentalist Yoko Ono.

This is not the first time that Japanese Breakfast has collaborated with Spotify. The indie band released an EP for Spotify this past fall. Live at Electric Lady blended tracks from multiple projects in the band’s discography, ranging from newly recorded live Jubilee tracks to a stunning string cover of Weezer’s “Say It Ain’t So.”

The EP contains eight tracks: “Tactics,” “Be Sweet,” “Kokomo, IN,” “Savage Good Boy,” “Lindsey,” “Ballad O,” “Boyish,” and “Say It Ain’t So.”

Zauner stated of Justin Vernon’s track, “We decided to record Bon Iver’s ‘Skinny Love’ because it felt like a very surprising cover for Japanese Breakfast. It’s so moving and sparse. We felt we could add some interesting instrumentation to the track and celebrate our fellow label mate Bon Iver.”

We cannot love this rendition of “Skinny Love” more. Be sure to stream the cover on Spotify.
