Brandi Carlile Delivers Beautiful Performance of ‘Right on Time’ at the Grammys
Brandi Carlile delivered another gorgeous performance of her lead single, “Right on Time,” at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards held on Sunday, April 3. The “Broken Horses” singer was introduced by music legends Joni Mitchell and Bonnie Raitt.
In These Silent Days, Carlile’s seventh studio album, was released last October. The singer shared the single on July 21, along with an accompanying music video directed by her good friend, Courteney Cox.
Her seventh studio album was met with critical acclaim, scoring a whopping five Grammy nominations. Carlile made history for the second time at the Grammys, where she became the first woman singer-songwriter to receive two nominations in the same category (Song of the Year for both “Right On Time” and her collaboration with Alicia Keys “A Beautiful Noise.”)
For Carlile, making history at an awards show isn’t new. At the 61st Annual Grammy Awards in 2019, Carlile had been the most nominated female that year, winning 3 Grammys that night. Her hit single, “The Joke,” won Best American Roots Song and Performance.
Despite coming home empty-handed this Grammys season, Carlile still gave a memorable performance. She began at the piano, singing “Right on Time” in a delicate way. After hitting the first of two stellar high notes, she transitioned to center stage, rocking out with her bandmates, Tim and Phil Hanseroth. By the song’s end, Carlile illuminated the stage with a rainbow-hued prism, making for a perfect ending for the talented singer.
