Arlo Parks is back with new music. The “Eugene” singer released the third single off her forthcoming album, My Soft Machine.

After the whirlwind success of her debut studio album, Collapsed in Sunbeams, Arlo Parks is returning with a new album on May 26. The British singer announced her latest record in January. Since the album announcement, Parks has put out three singles: “Weightless,” “Impurities,” and “Blades.”

Her latest single is an upbeat dance song, something one would not think of when listening to Arlo Parks. She reveals, “I wanted to make something that I can dance to, finally, because I feel like my songs don’t really have that quality in general.”

Parks shared an anecdote about the song’s message, stating, “I imagine this moment at a party where you see someone across the room that you haven’t seen in a while, you felt yourself growing apart, and you’re like, should I, should I not? And then you find the courage to approach them.”

The “Softly” singer also mentioned some musicians she sought inspiration from to make a track like “Blades.” She cites ESG, artists like Kaytranada, and a lot of the kind of ’70s Zambian psychedelic rock that I love.”

Arlo ParksMy Soft Machine arrives on May 26. She went on to unveil the twelve-track record. There is also a special collaboration on the way with the talented Phoebe Bridgers. The tracklist reads:

01 Bruiseless
02 Impurities
03 Devotion
04 Blades
05 Purple Phase
06 Weightless
07 Pegasus [ft. Phoebe Bridgers]
08 Dog Rose
09 Puppy
10 I’m Sorry
11 Room (Red Wings)
12 Ghost

It will not be long before a new Arlo Parks record is in the hands of fans. The accompanying music video to “Blades” is out now. While fans wait for the new album, her debut is available to stream on all major music platforms.
