Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem Sequel in the Works
Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon announced that a sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is in development, along with a new spinoff series.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back, and fans are getting ready for their newest movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Jeff Rowe will direct the sequel in addition to Mutant Mayhem. Point Grey Pictures is set to produce both the sequel and the Paramount+ series.
The television series will link the two films, creating a fully immersive experience for franchise fans. Titled Tales of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Paramount+ project will continue the turtles’ adventures from their upcoming film.
The announcement of both these projects ahead of the film’s theatrical release strongly indicates the studio’s faith in the franchise. Brian Robbins, the chief of Paramount and Nickelodeon, is prioritizing the lovable characters following the short-lived live-action reboot in 2016.
In an interview with Variety, Robbins stated: “In the nearly 40 years since ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ launched into the zeitgeist, it has entertained generations of fans and only continues to grow. We are excited to grow TMNT’s legacy in partnership with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg at Point Grey, and Jeff Rowe, who are innovating the franchise with their singular brand of humor and elevated storytelling for audiences everywhere, across virtually every platform.”
Additionally, president of Paramount Animation & Nickelodeon Animation Ramsey Naito ensures fans that “Reinvigorating this franchise has been years in the making, and we are thrilled to continue expanding the beloved ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ universe and bringing new adventures to families and fans.”
The latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle film follows the lives of the beloved ninja turtles as they acclimate to the modern world. Lonely and separated from humans, Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo embark on dangerous adventures to keep New York safe. And, most importantly, they earn the respect of the city they love.
Mutant Mayhem stars Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, Micah Abbey as Donatello, Brady Noon as Raphael, and Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo. The film also stars Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, and Ayo Edebiri as the beloved heroine April O’Neil.
