‘Stargirl Interlude’ Hits New Milestone With Over a Billion Streams
“Stargirl Interlude” by The Weeknd and Lana Del Rey surpassed one billion streams on Spotify, becoming the first interlude with this achievement in the platform’s history.
This is Del Rey’s third time achieving one billion streams on a song and The Weeknd’s twelfth.

Furthermore, this achievement marks a successful week for women in music. Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Read” also reached one billion streams. Moreover, the interlude becomes one of the only female non-singles with the achievement, joining hits by Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and Olivia Rodrigo.

The Weeknd released the track as part of his Starboy album back in 2016. The artist’s third studio album featured guest appearances from Daft Punk, Future, and Kendrick Lamar in addition to Del Rey.
This news comes shortly after the song’s producer, Doc McKinney, teased a potential new project from the duo earlier this week. The record producer shared a photo to his Instagram story of a computer folder titled “lana doc and abel demo 1” with a present emoji accompanying it. This caused fans to speculate whether they would receive a demo of the beloved interlude or a new collaboration.

In addition to this prospective project, Del Rey has more excitement expected this year. The music icon announced previously that her country album Lasso comes out this September. In collaboration with music producer Jack Antonoff, the LP will be the singer-songwriter’s tenth studio album and first country project.
While they wait for more music from the pair, fans can support the artists by streaming “Stargirl Interlude” on Spotify.
