Doechii Drops New Studio Solo Version of Song ‘Anxiety’
Doechii seized the moment by officially releasing her past song “Anxiety” after it started going viral on TikTok.
If you’ve been scrolling on TikTok recently, there’s no way you could have missed Doechii’s trending song “Anxiety.” While the song is going viral right now, Doechii actually released it on YouTube almost five years ago for Coven Music Session, Vol. 1, one of her first projects. The song, which samples Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know,” was later sampled as well by rapper Sleepy Hallow on his song “ANXIETY,” credited Doechii as a feature for his album Boy Meets World in 2023.
The musician explained on social media, “Anxiety is a song that Sleepy Hallow dropped, but he sampled my song. And then I, years ago, did a remix to ‘Somebody That I Used to Know,’ and I titled it ‘Anxiety.’ I wrote a completely different song, and now it’s blowing up on TikTok, and everybody’s requesting it, and it’s out now.”
The song’s journey began with Doechii recording herself singing it in her bedroom and posting it on TikTok, teasing the release. The video received an impressive 42 million views.
The Swamp Princess has had a busy year so far, starting it off by performing at and winning a Grammy for Best Rap Album for her mixtape Aligator Bites Never Heal, making her the third female rapper to accomplish this. Last month, she starred in the music video of her collaborative song “EXTRAL” with Jennie of BLACKPINK.
Last week she opened for Dsquared2’s Milan Fashion Week show, and this Tuesday, she performed at Paris Fashion Week’s Le Grand Dîner Du Louvre after-party. It’s no wonder fans are so impressed by Doechii’s quick studio release.
The Grammy award-winner has also announced that she will be releasing her debut album this year. She shared with Variety, “All I can think about is this album. I’m just looking forward to making more hits, making more music, and achieving more of my goals. That’s it.”
For now, fans can finally purchase and stream her official studio release of “Anxiety” on all platforms, such as Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL, and more.
