Normani will return to the MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday, September 12, to deliver a show-stopping performance of her new song “Wild Side.” The steamy R&B song featured Cardi B and was an instant summer hit upon its July release. Now, fans are ready to see Normani bring her “Wild Side” to the stage.

The singer posted an Instagram announcement that she would be performing live at the 2021 MTV VMAs on Thursday, September 9. Many vocalized their love and support in the comments, including former groupmate Lauren Jauregui, who commented, “It’s only right!!!”

Normani last hit the VMA stage with her iconic single “Motivation” in 2019. All eyes were on her as she owned the VMAs with her first solo performance. Previously, Normani performed with the girl group Fifth Harmony in 2014 and 2017 but wowed audiences with her vocals and effortless dancing to the 2000s style track.

“Wild Side” features mesmerizing choreography. When paired with her many wardrobe changes and sultry sound, the artist continues to reach new heights.

Following the music video’s success, there was an outcry from fans and celebrities for the versatile artist to perform. Cardi B, who Normani first teamed up with for the “WAP” music video, campaigned for her performance on Twitter. Fans also stormed social media with support. Everyone was ecstatic to learn MTV finally offered her a spot.

Sunday, September 12, is shaping up to be an exciting night for music. In addition to Normani’s highly-anticipated set, we will also see live performances from Olivia Rodrigo, Justin Bieber, Camila Cabello, and Chloe Bailey at the Barclays Center. In addition to being nominated, Doja Cat will be hosting.
