Marvel announced on Monday that a selection of its upcoming movies will be delayed or removed, leaving fans waiting a bit longer. Since the Marvel Cinematic Universe excels at carefully planned release dates, pushing back one movie means the others must follow suit.

As of now, movies like The Eternals and Spiderman: No Way Home are expected to be released in theaters on time. But Marvel officially delayed six openings for their 2022-23 calendar. These include Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Marvels, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

The delays are reportedly due to production shutting down during the pandemic. Seeing as Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings had massive success at the box office this fall, it’s safe to assume that money is not the reason for delays.

In addition, two unnamed titles were pulled from the upcoming lineup, and another was rescheduled for a Fall 2023 release. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 remains spared from a delay, but its plot isn’t as important to the overall MCU.

Marvel does ensure us that its upcoming Disney+ series will release as planned, including Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel. If that’s still too long of a wait, The Eternals is coming to screens on November 5. Find out more about the star-studded tale of the oldest Marvel characters in the universe.
