The American Music Awards took place Sunday, November 21, and, judging by the red carpet photos, the stars understood the assignment. There were plenty of takes on deconstructed fashion, dressed-up streetwear, and full-on elegance. We listed some of the night’s best fashion moments below.

Chlöe Bailey

ABC

Chlöe Bailey looked equal parts sophisticated and sexy in Monsoori—the same brand behind her iconic SNL look. The floor-length gown hugged the singer’s figure, complete with a high slit and cutouts, a popular trend this season. Bailey completed the look with sparkling accessories head-to-toe. We’re talking about the whole ensemble: hoop earrings, layers of bracelets, a delicate body chain, and an anklet. The fit had us saying, “Lord, have mercy.”

Madelyn Cline

ABC

Madelyn Cline showed off her stunning physique in Mônot. The Outer Banks actress went for an all-black moment in the halter neck gown. With deep hip cutouts, Cline was one of many to master deconstructed fashion on the AMAs red carpet. She paired the dress with black pumps and gloves, completing the entire outfit.

BTS

ABC

BTS managed to pull off three looks at the 2021 AMAswhich is fitting since the group took home three awards. The K-Pop group arrived in grey and black Louis Vuitton suits. J-Hope and Jimin stood out with blue and pink undershirts. BTS then changed into edgy streetwear for their performance with Coldplay and finished the night in yellow suits by Tailorable for their “Butter” performance and winning photo ops.

Marsai Martin

ABC

Marsai Martin was full-on glam for the red carpet. The actress and producer, 17, wore a sparkly patterned gown by Missoni and paired it with statement jewelry. Martin’s makeup artist, EJ Gregory, weaved shades of silver and purple into the actress’s eyeshadow to tie the look together.

Winnie Harlow

ABC

Model Winnie Harlow looked nothing short of royalty in Zuhair Murad. Colorful jewels cascaded down the ultra mini dress, from the high neck down to the fringe detailing. The dress’s open back and off-the-shoulder cuts made it perfect for the “look back at it” photo op, which Harlow mastered.

Olivia Rodrigo

ABC

Olivia Rodrigo made her AMAs debut wearing her signature color. The David Koma dress was sheer and entirely covered in sequins, except the hem of the dress, made of feathers. Its lilac hue matched that of her 2021 album, SOUR. The figure-hugging dress was the perfect combination of playful and bold for Rodrigo. Halle Bailey

ABC

Halle Bailey wore a beautifully rich chocolate-brown set from designer LaQuan Smith. The two-piece set is part of Smith’s FW21 collection. Bailey paired the extreme cutout bodysuit with its wrap skirt counterpart and finished the look with dangling earrings and strappy heels.

Thanks to the night’s special guests and performers, the 49th Annual American Music Awards gave us plenty of iconic moments and bold looks to ogle over.
